The North Bay Files is a public record and transparency project. This project is driven by the public, solely funded out of pocket by the public and personal time invested in the catalog of data you now have open and free access to.

This project provides organized public access to records obtained through Freedom of Information requests and other official sources. It is intended to support public oversight, transparency, accountability, and informed public understanding of decision-making in North Bay.

This project contains primary sourced documents and other records that have been verified for accuracy, for all to freely access. These documents can be used as a supporting resource to raise questions. When questions do arise, we encourage public engagement with the community, elected officials, municipal staff, and local media.

The North Bay Files catalog will be organized by a dual-index system: Issue Folders contain full documents and Councillor Files contain voting records, a summary of their involvement in the issues, and other relevant files. The Master Index spreadsheet intends to tie everything together, tracking Date, Motion, Vote outcome, How each councillor voted, Links to files, and Links to media articles.

Please note that parts of The North Bay Files are still under development but are consistently being updated as new information is received. Documents are provided as received unless otherwise noted. Some files may contain redactions as issued by institutions or to protect the privacy of individuals.

The North Bay Files would not exist if it weren’t for public oversight and transparency advocates for their file contributions.

Thank you,

Nicole Peltier
