The North Bay Files is a resident-led public record and transparency archive. We believe that access to civic information, municipal decision history, and government records should belong to the community – freely accessible, searchable, and organized without financial or technical barriers.
Our Mission
Government works best when the public can see how decisions are made. For years, dedicated residents and transparency advocates in North Bay have submitted Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and gathered vital public records.
However, these documents often remain isolated on individual hard drives or lost behind obscure municipal request portals. The North Bay Files transforms these scattered records into a centralized, full-text searchable public repository created by the public, for the public.
Privacy-First Commitment
Your privacy while accessing public records is paramount. We operate under a strict policy of zero user tracking:
- No Tracking or Analytics: We do not use Google Analytics, tracking pixels, or user profiling tools.
- No Email or Data Collection: We do not collect personal data, email addresses, or require user accounts to access any part of the archive.
- No Marketing Cookies: You can browse, search, and download documents completely anonymously.
When you view or search files embedded on this site, your connection interacts directly with our public Google Drive repository without us logging or monitoring your search activity.
Community-Driven & Independent
This project is entirely independent, non-partisan, and non-commercial. It is solely funded out of pocket by volunteers and sustained by personal time invested in cataloging, indexing, and organizing municipal data.
We owe special thanks to local transparency advocates and public oversight researchers whose file contributions have made this repository possible.
